Description: Gladiator is the soundtrack, along with James Horner’s Braveheart, that got me into film scores so I felt it fitting to celebrate my 100th album posting with an homage to this personally important score. Gladiator is full of remarkably powerful melodies, intense drama, bombast, and great emotion. It features ethnic instruments and female vocals, which is why Hans Zimmer co-composed this with vocalist Lisa Gerrard. The music is composed around concepts of war and those with power in the Roman era, but much of the music is composed for a single character, digging deep into his tragic loss, personal struggle, and quest for revenge.
