Album: No Better Time Than Now
When this album was suggested to me, it included the message: “This album has a lot of brain tingle moments.” Interested, I dove in, and it’s been the album I’ve played on repeat for the last two and a half weeks.
This album is a combination of ambience and beats. The electronic sounds Shigeto employs creates a cerebral listening experience and the percussion is jumpy. Each measure, as he builds his track, he introduces an additional nuance, something I’m taken to when many electronic artists just slap a repeat on a few bars and call it good enough. I can see this album being useful for students working through essays or, as in my case, trying to crank through my to do list at work.
