More for Your Muse – Freelance Whales and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros

Two more albums approved by me (whatever that means) that aid in the writing process.

Weathervanes by Freelance Whales

Freelance Whales feel like a band that came together naturally. Their music, a mixture of indie folk and electronica, is upbeat but intimate, like stealing a smile with your dance partner. The lyrics read like observations between two people at arm’s length from love.

Home by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros

A band composed of many musicians, they take the spirit of the ’60s and ’70s music and spin it for the modern age. Their music has great soul and you can tell that great love and care went into its creation. Each track feels natural, as if the music had been wanting to be written. There’s no sound quite like it though there have been impostors, in my opinion (Of Monsters and Men). This album is great for keeping you going when the words need to keep flowing. You can hear the singers smiling as they sing and you’ll find its infectious nature getting into you.
