Description: I find Jon Brion’s work easy to write to, especially when a character feels sullen, a loner, or just trying to find their way. The score to Paranorman really hits on Norman being an outsider, and you might find this soundtrack to help you get into the brain of a shoe-gazing character of your own. A quick note however is that the intro piece is done with 80’s style synths, and Brion reuses them for the zombies throughout the film. It’s a strange counterpoint to the zombies, and a strange one from Norman, but once you get on to the 2nd and 3rd track you hit the good stuff.
