Description: Marco Beltrami has, for a long time, been a composer utilized for action and horror scores. He stepped out of his comfort zone when he composed 3:10 to Yuma, which many consider a fantastic soundtrack. What he brought to The Homseman was not a sweeping, Western score of heroism and prideful survival, but more haunting and dignified survival. This music transends Westerns and should not be disregarded due to the film’s content. Sure there is the out-of-tune saloon and banjos but there is so much more in this score. It’s subtle and all of its parts meaningful.
